Orlando City star Kaka truly made the captain’s armband mean something when he joined forces with the MLS All Stars on Wednesday night.
He was the MVP and probably the most impactful field player on the pitch as the MLS All Stars defeated English side Tottenham Hotspurs 2-1 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park outside Denver, Colo.

Kaka scored a goal from the penalty spot after a handball off a MLS corner kick in the 20th minutes. Three minutes later, he connected with Clint Dempsey and threaded a beautiful cross into the box that was redirected into the back of the net by NYC FC’s David Villa for MLS’ second goal.
It can be that easy.
Kaka won the MVP as he was not only responsible for both MLS goals, but also was very active in the midfield. He connected well with the likes of Clint Dempsey and David Villa.
For an All-Star Game, the MLS side was pretty well connected and worked well together throughout the game. The end-to-end action was very entertaining for the FOX Sports 1 crowd and showed the health of the league as a whole.
There were so many recognizable names on the MLS side, many of them having signed this year as the MLS broadcast noted.
Kaka’s first year in Orlando has certainly been All-Star worthy. He has recorded nine goals for Orlando City as their fulcrum in the center of the field.
The Lions season has been up and down though. A strong June was followed by a one-point July. That has left Orlando City outside the Playoff picture with 24 points.
It should make for an interesting second half of the season for the team — starting Saturday at the Citrus Bowl against Columbus Crew.
Victor Oladipo breaks the rim
Meanwhile in wherever they film SportsNation on ESPN, Victor Oladipo dropped Marcellus Wiley with a vicious dunk.
Yeah the rim is not regulation and it is SportsNation. But that cannot be fun to deal with.
