UCF held their annual FanFest and open practice Friday evening, giving fans their first chance to look at the Knights before their Thursday opener the first week of September against FIU.
Both Eric Lopez and Carson Ingle of the Insiders Show on Sports Talk Florida were there and provided their thoughts on the expectations for UCF on their show Saturday:
They are both encouraged by the line play on both sides of the ball, but questions remain at running back and whether veteran William Stanback can remain healthy for the entire season. That has been a question.
A guy like Stanback could be vital for UCF as there is a ton of experience in key positions. It could lead to some hiccups throughout the season. In the end, both Eric and Carson project UCF to go 9-3, putting the team on the bubble for a third straight AAC title.
The duo also discussed Orlando City’s struggles (note: it was recorded before the Lions lost to Toronto FC) and the upcoming international call ups that could ravage the roster for the game against New England in early September.
They also discussed the Gators and their lack of interest in Orlando (seemingly), former Orlando Predators coach adn quarterback Jay Gruden’s struggles with the Washington Redskins of late and the Florida NFL teams and how their preseasons are progressing.
