The numbers are in from Orlando TV watchers. The NFL is no longer king as Thursday Night Football lost locally to Grey’s Anatomy.
For the first time this fall, Thursday Night Football on CBS was not the number one program in Orlando. ABC’s television drama Grey’s Anatomy was the highest rated television program in Orlando on Thursday night garnering 140,950 viewers, beating CBS’ Coverage of Thursday Night Football which had 116,748 viewers.
The game between the Indianapolis Colts against the Houston Texans is not a big TV draw to begin with. Adding insult to injury was Colts star quarterback Andrew Luck not playing due to an injured shoulder. As a result the game lacked interest both nationally and locally in Orlando.
It is worth noting the game which was also carried on NFL Network. It garnered 25,808 viewers if you add CBS and NFL Network numbers locally to the Colts-Texans game. It would be still the most viewed program in Orlando on Thursday.
The Colts win over the Texans was easily the lowest viewed Thursday Night NFL game this fall both nationally and in Orlando. The Colts-Texans game also continues the trend of decline in viewers since the start of the season in Orlando on Thursday night for football which is a very tough night for competition going against other sporting events like college football, MLB Playoffs and primetime shows like Grey’s Anatomy and FOX’s Bones which garnered 119,381 viewers.
Below is a breakdown of the number of viewers in Orlando this season for Thursday Night NFL.
