The Orlando Predators will hold their annual open tryouts in mid November, giving local football players a shot at the pros.
The Orlando Predators will hold their annual open tryouts on Saturday, November 14 at Faith Christian Academy on Curry Ford Road, the team announced in a press release.
The Predators have long used the open tryout to find under scouted talent and have included tyrout players on their roster.
“Every year we sign players from our open tryout,” said coach Rob Keefe in the press release. “The event brings out high quality talent that has slipped through the cracks and plays an integral role in building our roster. I would encourage anyone who has ever had an interest in playing professional football to come out and show their skills. We are always looking for diamonds in the rough.”
Florida is certainly a football-rich state and it is no surprise that some players find their way onto the Predators’ roster. Last year starting defensive back Nick Taylor signed to the team after his open tryout and climbed up the depth chart to end up starting for the Predators in their division championship season. Taylor recorded 86 tackles and 20 pass breakups last season.
The tryout is open to anyone and no football experience is necessary. The tryout will include athletic tests like the 40-yard dash, broad jump and short shuttle along with position-specific drills. The registration is $50 if potential players tryout pre-register and $75 for walk-ups.
