Orlando TV Ratings: Florida State-Clemson tops college football viewers

Florida State’s game against Clemson was the second most watched college football game in Orlando this season.

The Florida State Seminoles 23-13 loss at the Clemson Tigers was the second most watched college football game of the 2015 season in Orlando. It was also the second most watched sporting event of the week behind only the Denver Broncos-Indianapolis Colts NFL game on Sunday.

The showdown for the ACC Atlantic Division title  garnered 244,414 viewers in Orlando according to Nielsen slightly behind last week’s Florida-Georgia game for the most watched college football game in Orlando.

  1. Florida Gators vs Georgia Bulldogs in Jacksonville: 245,594 viewers (Oct. 31 on CBS)
  2. Florida State Seminoles at Clemson Tigers : 244,414 viewers (Nov. 7 on ABC)
  3. Tennessee Volunteers at Florida Gators: 206,977 viewers (Sept. 26 on CBS)
  4. Ole Miss Rebels at Florida Gators: 194,295 viewers (Oct. 3 on ESPN)
  5.  Miami Hurricanes at Florida State Seminoles: 174,654 viewers (oct. 10 on ABC)

Nationally people were just as interested in the game as they were in Orlando as ABC had its highest overnight rating in the 3:30 PM ET window since November, 2012 game between Florida and Florida State (5.6) according to SportsMediaWatch.com. The game drew a 5.5 rating this weekend

Florida State-Clemson was nationally the second most watched game of Saturday behind only LSU-Alabama (6.3) which aired on primetime on CBS. LSU-Alabama in Orlando garnered 163,388 viewers, which is the 6th most watched college football game of the season in Orlando.

Florida Win over Vanderbilt Most Watched College Football game on Cable.

The Gators’ ugly 9-7 win over the Commodores was not ugly enough to turn off viewers.

Florida’s win, which clinched the first SEC Eastern Division title since 2009, had a 2.0 TV rating overnight according to SportsMediaWatch.com. That made it the highest rated game on cable beating Michigan State-Nebraska (1.7) and Arizona-USC (1.2). Nebraska and Michigan State had more total viewers nationally with 3.4 million viewers to Vanderbilt-Florida 2.7 million viewers.

Locally the Gators’ win garnered 135,095 viewers in Orlando making it the sixth most watched sporting event of the week in Orlando and third among college football games.

UCF-Tulsa on ESPNews Down in Viewers.

UCF’s 45-30 lost at Tulsa on ESPNews garnered nationally 67,000 viewers according to SportsTVratings.com which is lowest viewed UCF game on ESPNews this season. In 2014 UCF hosted Tulsa on Friday night on ESPN2. The game garnered 738,000 viewers nationally.

UCF final two games of the season are scheduled for ESPN Thursday night primetime on Thursday November 19 against East Carolina and Thanksgiving night vs South Florida which should be the two most watched UCF games nationally this season.
