UCF Knightline discusses American bowl duds with Eric Lopez

Orlando Sports Daily contributor Eric Lopez joined UCF Knightline to discuss UCF football’s offseason and the American Conference bowl dud.

The American Conference came into the bowl season with high hopes.

Yes, Houston defeated Florida State in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl to give the conference a premiere win over a major program. It legitimized everything the Cougars did this year.

The rest of the American Conference though? Ignore the man behind the curtain.

The American Conference went 2-6 with only Houston and Navy winning games. The much-celebrated Memphis Tigers lost to 6-6 Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl. Toledo trounced Temple in the Boca Raton Bowl. San Diego State embarrassed Cincinnati in the Hawai’i Bowl.

It felt like all the American’s powerhouses fell hard in the bowl games.

The offseason also brings questions about UCF and its futures. Signing Day is coming up for Scott Frost and his first recruiting class. He also has to fill up his staff.

As the college football season quiets a bit before Signing Day, the UCF podcast Knight Line spoke to Orlando Sports Daily contributor Eric Lopez about UCF’s offseason and the American postseason:

Lopez also helped us prepare for the upcoming UCF softball season, which should be very strong this season.

There will be lots of changes for the UCF Knights football program for sure in the coming weeks.
