The NFL Wild Card games put up really big numbers in viewers in Orlando over the weekend.
The Green Bay Packers’ win over the Washington Redskins on the late Sunday game on FOX topped the viewers in Orlando with 419,587 viewers according to Nielsen, making it the most watched NFL game in Orlando this season.
The Green Bay-Washington game had the desired late Sunday window which helped the big number. Also helping the interest in Orlando was the tie Orlando has with Washington coach Jay Gruden, who was a former player and head coach for the Orlando Predators.
The Seattle Seahawks’ win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday ranked second among the weekend games and was the third most-watched NFL game in Orlando this season with 395,447 viewers on NBC.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday night on CBS garnered 299,644 viewers.
Rounding out the Wild Card games, The Kansas City Chiefs’ dominating win over the Houston Texans on Saturday afternoon pulled in 195,071 viewers on ABC with an additional 77,205 on ESPN for 272,276 total viewers.
Overall more people in Orlando watched NFL Wild Card games this weekend than did last year.
The four games this weekend averaged 346,378 viewers up from last year when an average of 321,318 viewers in Orlando watched the four wild card games.
Look for the numbers to increase as the NFL playoffs continue.
Among the four NFL Divisional Playoff games, look for the the Pittsburgh Steelers at Denver Broncos on late Sunday afternoon on CBS to be the most-watched NFL game in Orlando. Earlier this season, the Steelers’ come-from-behind win over the Broncos on Dec. 20 was the most watched sporting event of that week in Orlando with 258,470 viewers. That game was a regular season game that did include Peyton Manning, who historically has been a big TV draw in Orlando.
Manning will start for the Broncos this Sunday.
The game that could challenge the Steelers-Broncos for most Orlando viewers could be Saturday’s Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots game. The Patriots have been a big draw in Orlando this season as seen below being involved in four of the top ten most watched NFL regular season games.
