The Orlando Magic have already had a roller coaster of a season.
The team started off slow with a difficult schedule and looked a bit shaky for a bit, mired in inconsistency and youth. Then the wins came in bunches and the team got out to 19-13 with Scott Skiles winning Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for December.
Things seemed to be going well.
And then they were not.
The Magic are struggling mightily right now and that has colored the whole conversation. Orlando has lost 10 of its past 11 games and is in a season-long six-game losing streak after back-to-back overtime losses to the Charlotte Hornets and Memphis Grizzlies.
There are a lot of big questions getting asked about the Magic these days as the team rounds the corner for the second half of the season.
On the Orlando Magic Daily Podcast, Orlando Magic Daily editors Brett Roberts and Philip Rossman-Reich (that’s me!) discussed the season so far and what to expect in the second half:
Scott Skiles always says you are not as good as you think you are and not as bad as you think you are when you watch the game again on tape. Certainly there is a lot of raw emotion going around with the losing taking place and a lot of questions that need answering.
There is both a small and big picture to consider as February’s trade deadline quickly approaches.
Until then, the Magic will be searching for a way to get out of this rut and back on track.
