As expected, Super Bowl 50 between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers on CBS was by far the most-watched TV program in Orlando since last year’s Super Bowl and more than likely will be the most-watched sports program of 2016 as it garnered 1.2 million viewers in Orlando.
This year’s Super Bowl fell slightly off Super Bowl XLIX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks last year as it garnered 1.352 million viewers.
Still to put things in perspective, the highest TV program of the week that did not involve the Super Bowl was the Republican Debate ahead of the New Hampshire Primary on ABC on Saturday with 268,932 viewers.
Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos were involved in the three most-watched NFL games in Orlando this season with Super Bowl 50 followed by the AFC Championship game win over the Patriots being number two. The Broncos’ win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Divisional playoff game is now the third most-watched game in Orlando this season.
Some other number of note from Sunday. CBS’s postgame Super Bowl show garnered 689,178 viewers in Orlando which is slightly down compared to last year’s Super Bowl postgame show on NBC, which garnered 691,548 viewers in Orlando.
The Super Bowl Pregame show prior to Super Bowl kickoff ( 6:00-6:25 p.m.) had 811,473 viewers which is second most-watched TV program.
Last year NBC aired a new episode of The Blacklist following the Super Bowl coverage which got 257,062 viewers in Orlando. This year, CBS aired a new episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert which garnered 244,940 viewers.
