UCF will play a lot fewer weekday games as part of its 2016 American Conference schedule. In fact, the team will play just one weekday game this year after finishing the year with three weekday games.
Such is life when you finish 0-12 rather than as co-AAC champions.
The Knights will open their regular season schedule Sept. 3 against South Carolina State at Bright House Networks Stadium. They will travel to The Big House to play the Michigan Wolverines the following week in one of two games against Big Ten opponents (Maryland comes to Orlando the following week).
American Athletic Conference play opens up at East Carolina on Oct. 1. The home conference schedule includes a Friday game against Tulane on Oct. 7 and Cincinnati on Nov. 12. The Knights will have their homecoming game against the Temple Owls on Oct. 15.
The Knights will travel to play the Houston Cougars on Oct. 29 a week after heading to Storrs, Conn., to face Connecticut in the rivalry* game.
The Knights’ real rivalry game against the USF Bulls was moved off Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday to Saturday, Nov. 26.
For UCF there will be a fair amount of revenge on the team’s mind throughout the season as it tries to recover from a winless season last year.
The Knights will have the new offense to learn with Scott Frost as they try to climb out of the hole dug in by the 2015 season.
