Lights. Camera. Action.
When UCF began the Charge On Tour on Monday in Downtown Orlando, they wanted to make a bold statement to their fan base. At the tour’s first stop, UCF Athletics Director Danny White made a major announcement.
This fall, both Bright House Networks Stadium and CFE Arena are getting a facelift.
Change is coming. Technologically speaking, at least.
New video boards will be made to upgrade the current LED displays. This will provide Knights Fans a new visual experience while watching their teams play on game days.
“I think these new displays are going to be a game-changer for the in-game, in-venue environment in both Bright House Networks Stadium and CFE Arena,” Danny White told the crowd at the Charge On Tour on Monday, according to UCFKnights.com.
By making this financial commitment, it goes to show UCF Athletics is dedicated to making improvements in any way possible. Earlier this month, they announced new uniforms for the football team.
They have also invested in new coaches, most of all. It has increased plenty of excitement about UCF athletics.
“The time is now for us to be bold,” White said. “An investment like this, in our two keystone facilities, is about as bold as it gets.”
That sends a strong message to UCF’s fans and students.
The company overseeing the project is Daktronics, which will make 17 new LED displays for the two athletic facilities. These new video boards will be ready to go before the upcoming football and basketball seasons start.
To compare the size, the main LED display at Bright House Networks Stadium will measure 114 feet wide by 36 feet high (4,104 square feet), while the current structure is 33.6 feet wide by 19.1 feet high (641 square feet).
Watching instant replays after the Knights score a touchdown just got a lot easier to see!
In addition to the gigantic video board, the football stadium will have a ribbon display added to the south end zone. This will present opportunities for fan engagement, show messages from sponsors and game information. It will measure more than seven feet high by 199 feet wide.
Meanwhile at CFE Arena, Knights fans will look up to see a nine-display structure attached to the ceiling above the basketball court. It will feature four main displays that each measure 14.5-feet high by 17.5-feet wide. Below the main structure, there will be a lower ring that measures three feet high by 58 feet in circumference.
If you missed a dunk or highlight play happen on the court by the Knights, just look up!
In addition to the huge structure, the basketball arena will have a 270-degree ribbon display that measures 2-feet high by 659 feet, which will be inside the facility. This will present opportunities for fan engagement, messages from sponsors and game information.
To help provide plentiful game information from its media members, five courtside scorer’s tables will be added during Knights’ basketball games.
Besides the increase size of the score boards, they will display a higher resolution for a much clearer picture.
With these new video boards, the atmosphere at Knights Football and Basketball games will be fun to watch, both on and off the field.
