The Orlando Predators have signed coach Rob Keefe to an extension after he guided them to consecutive division titles.

The Arena Football League is not known much for its defense. In Orlando, Keefe-nse will have to do.

And it has done well as the Orlando Predators have signed coach Rob Keefe to a multi-year extension, Stephen Ruiz of the Orlando Sentinel reports.

“I’m starting to really feel a part of the community,” Keefe told the Sentinel. “I just love the job. I love the people. I love the pace. I love the weather, and I really want to bring a championship to the city to make people proud of where they live and the team they root for.”

Keefe has been very successful in his two years as head coach of the Predators. The Predators won the Southeast Division both of those years and to the American Conference Championship Game in 2014. The season was cut short this year in the first round when the Jacksonville Sharks upset the Predators at Amway Center.

Keefe has a career record of 49-27 and won the 2010 Arena Bowl as the head coach of the Spokane Shock. He is 23-13 in his two years in Orlando.

Keefe has had to do a bit of a reclamation project with the Predators. The proud Arena League franchise missed the Playoffs in 2012 for the first time since its inaugural 1991 season. They followed that up with consecutive sub-.500 seasons for the first time in franchise history.

Keefe has helped reverse that with the two division championships. The Predators have returned to their mantle as one of the top teams in the league and a team that is always a contender for the Arena Bowl title.
